Change Format Cells¶
Change Format Cells can be done in 'Format Cells' dialog.
'Format Cells' dialog is displayed by selecting 'Format Cells' menu after right click on cell, and then you can start the next change.

Number¶
- Open 'Number' tab to set Format Cells.

You can choose 'Category' from the following.
Category Details General General format cells have no specific number format. Number Number is used for general display of numbers. Currency Currency formats are used for general monetary values. Accounting Accounting formats line up the currency symbols and decimal points in a column. Date Date formats display data and time serial numbers as date values. Time Time formats display date and time serial numbers as date values. Percentage Percentage formats multiply the cell value by 100 and displays the result with a percent symbol. Text Text format cells are treated as text even when a number is in the cell. The cell is displayed exactly as entered. Special Special formats are useful for tracking list and database values. Custom By customizing an existing number format, you can display cell value in your own unique format. Hint
- When the display format is set, the value stored in the cell remains unchanged and only the displayed value is changed.
- When you reference a cell from another cell or action, you get the value that the cell holds, not the value displayed in the cell.
- In cells where 'Category' is set to a Text, the value held in the cell is the same as the value displayed in the cell.
- 'Custom' can be used when 'Use the old format for interpreting the cell’s display format' is not checked in the sheet settings, refer to Configure a custom number format.
Setting the display format automatically¶
In cells with 'Category' as General, if you enter characters that can be recognized as values of other display formats such as date, time, currency, etc., the display format suitable for the value is automatically set.
Here is an example.
Hint
If a display format other than the General is set, the display format is not automatically set.
Number¶
When entering numbers separated by commas, the Number display format is set.
If you enter a decimal, the number of decimal places is also set.
Currency¶
When entering a currency symbol and a number, the Currency display format is set.
If you enter a decimal, the number of decimal places is also set.
Date¶
When entering the year, month and day separated by "-" or "/", the Date display format is set.
If the year is omitted, this year’s date is automatically set.
Time¶
When entering the hour, minute and second separated by ":", the Time display format is set.

Tip
If you enter a time greater than 24:00, the entered value will be displayed as less than 24:00. (Example: Enter "32:00" → Display "08:00")If you want to display the input value as it is after 24:00, set the display format to "General" again.See also

Percentage¶
When entering a numerical value with "%" at the end, the Percentage display format is set.
If you enter a decimal, the number of decimal places is also set.
Alignment¶
- Open 'Alignment' tab to set alignment information.

- If checked, characers are displayed with spaces back and forth. You can set this part with only the case set 'Horizontal' as 'Distributed'.

- The setting is to slide starting location with set values to display row.
- [5] Wrap text
- Text is displayed with wrapping at the right side in the cell.
- [6] Merge cells
- If this setting is checked while multiple cells are selected, the selected cells will be merged.
Font¶
- Open 'Font' tab to set font information of cell.

- Set font style 'Regular', 'Italic', 'Bold', or 'Bold Italic'.

- Set font size.
- [4] Underline
- Set underline to text displayed in the cell.

- Set font color.
- [6] Normal font
- If checked, font is reset as regular.
Borders¶
- Open 'Border' tab to set cell border.

- Set border pattern prepared as preset.
- [3] Border
- Set each border to inside or outside of the cell.
