Change of sheet saving format in version 3.3.0

In version 3.3.0 of CELF, the sheet saving format has changed.
The new saving format may result in smaller sheet sizes and faster sheet display and saving.
This section describes how to save the file in a new format.

How to save a sheet in a new format

When a new sheet is created and saved in version 3.3.0 or later of CELF, the sheet is saved in a new format.
Sheets created with CELF versions 3.2.2 and earlier will also be automatically converted to the new format by re-saving the sheet with CELF version 3.3.0 or later.

Attention

Sheets saved in the new format will generally display and save faster, but layouts with inconsistent cell formatting may take longer to display and save.

Tip

There is no direct way to check the CELF version in which the sheet was saved.
Based on the date modified on the sheet, determine the following
  • If using the cloud version: If modified date before 5/13/2022, the sheet was saved in version 3.2.2 or earlier of CELF.
  • If using the on-premise version: Please confirm with the system administrator of your environment the date and time when CELF was updated to version 3.3.0 or later. If modified date is before the confirmed date, the sheets are saved with CELF version 3.2.2 or earlier.

How to apply a new format to a published sheet while keeping it published

Sheets created and published before version 3.2.2 remain in the old format.
This section describes how to apply a new save format to such a published sheet while keeping it published.

If the sheet has not been modified after publication

If the sheet has not been modified after the application has been published, the following steps will apply the new saving format to the published sheet.

  1. Open and save a sheet in version 3.3.0 or later of CELF (saved in a new format)
  2. Click the "Publish" button on the Application management screen to republish the application.

If the sheet has been modified after publication

If a sheet is modified after the app is published, re-saving the sheet and re-publishing the app will result in publishing a sheet that is still in the process of being modified.
In such cases, the following procedure will leave the sheet as it was at the time of publication, with the new saving format applied.
  1. Revert the sheet to the published version.

  1. Save the sheet (it will be saved in a new format with the contents as they were at the time of publication)
  2. Click the "Publish" button on the Application management screen to republish the application.

Attention

If the above operation is performed, any modifications made after the application is published will be lost.
Therefore, if modified contents are to be reflected after publication, it is necessary to first back up the sheet being modified before 1 above, and then manually reflect the contents of the sheet and action set after 3 above, using the backed up sheet as a reference.
